YAK’s After School Program (ASP) is open to all youth in Grades 6 to 12, and runs from 2:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday. We’re pleased to say that it’s entirely free, thanks to the generous support of Individual Donors, United Way of Eastern Ontario and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Every night, dinner is hosted between 4pm and 5pm, and there is always a healthy snack on hand if hungry.

We house a Food Pantry with The Table Community Food Centre that is anonymous and can be accessed Monday to Friday 11-5.

HOW DOES YAK SUPPORT RURAL 2SLGBTQIA+ YOUTH?

YAK proudly displays a Pride Flag and promotes conversations on what the Flag represents.

YAK Staff attend up to date training on Inclusion and Diversity (including 2SLGBTQIA+ topics such as Understanding Diverse Pronouns and Creating 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusive Spaces).

YAK hosts Queer Connection Lanark once a month to offer office hours to participants and the greater community.

YAK communicates with participants about language choice and educates on why anti-2SLGBTQIA+ words can be harmful.
